Wildfire Report — National Overview

The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 1. Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 30 new fires reported. Firefighters are managing 6 uncontained large fires, with 0 new large incidents and 0 large fires contained. Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 414. Zero Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) and zero NIMOs are committed. Year-to-date, 67,673 wildfires have burned 9,389,010 acres across the United States.

Weather

  1. NYC, Northeast and New England: Relative humidity is expected to increase in the Northeast despite moderate westerly breezes.

  2. Mid-Atlantic and Southeast: Dry air will continue in the central and southern Appalachians with minimum relative humidity falling to 20-30% but with light winds. Deep moisture will move northward from the Gulf producing widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms bringing much needed relief to the Lower Mississippi Valley.

  3. Midwest, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes: Above normal temperatures persist in the Plains and Mississippi Valley.

  4. Central and Southern Plains: Above normal temperatures persist in the Plains and Mississippi Valley but deep moisture will move northward from the Gulf producing widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms bringing much needed relief to the Lower Mississippi Valley.

  5. Rockies, Southwest and West Coast: Drier weather is expected across the West with temperatures near to below normal, with the coolest temperatures relative to normal in the Southwest.

  6. Alaska and Hawaii: Drier weather is expected across most of Alaska except for light precipitation along the southern coast and in the panhandle amid near normal temperatures. Trade winds continue across Hawai'i with isolated light windward showers.

Washington

The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 1 uncontained large fire active.

The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee NF, USFS is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,816 acres and is 40% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter. Minimal fire behavior with smoldering, creeping and backing is reported, and residences are threatened.

Oregon
