Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 59 new fires reported. Firefighters are managing 10 uncontained large fires, with 2 new large incidents and 1 large fire contained.
Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 2,969.
Two Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
Year-to-date, 63,884 wildfires have burned 9,016,136 acres across the United States.
The pattern change continues to progress today with widespread moisture and cool conditions across the Rocky Mountains and the Great Basin.
Northern California will remain gusty and dry however with RH dropping into the teens, though some rainfall is expected across the northeast and far eastside.
Moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Rachel will be drawn northward to bring areas of moderate to heavy rain to southern California, Arizona, and southern Nevada.
Winds will also be quite strong with gusts to 50 mph across southern California and Arizona.
High temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees below normal across most areas west of the Rockies.
The Pacific Northwest will also see some breezy north and northeast winds with gusts to 35 mph across the Columbia Basin and most of Oregon.
Dry and hot weather will follow Isaias across the south today, but winds will be much lighter.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 4 uncontained large fires active.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,906 acres and is 95% contained under CIMT (NW Team 12). Located thirty miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA, it is burning in timber and dormant brush. The fire exhibits minimal behavior, including smoldering. Structures are threatened, 40 structures have been lost, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,439 acres and is 34% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter with moderate fire behavior, including smoldering, backing, and flanking. Residences are threatened, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect. Precipitation occurred over the fire area yesterday.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber, and closed timber litter. It exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect, and precipitation occurred over the fire area yesterday. The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 93,972 acres and is 98% contained. Located fourteen miles southwest of Dufur, OR, it is burning in brush, hardwood litter, and closed timber litter. The fire shows minimal behavior, including creeping and smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect, and 33 structures have been lost.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports zero uncontained large fires. In Southern California, one CIMT remains committed across 4 uncontained large fires.
The Cyrus fire on the Sequoia National Forest covers 543 acres and is 61% contained. Located four miles southeast of Kernville, CA, it is burning in grass and brush with minimal fire behavior. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 6,805 acres and is 69% contained under CIMT (CA Team 4). Located one mile north of Wawona, CA, it is burning in timber, brush, and medium slash. The fire exhibits minimal behavior with spotting, creeping, and smoldering, and closures are in effect. The Bouquet fire on the Angeles National Forest covers 1,048 acres and is 93% contained. Located eight miles northeast of Saugus, CA, it is burning in chaparral, grass, and brush with minimal fire behavior. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest is located four miles southeast of Big Sur, CA. It covers 25,350 acres and is 97% contained. It is burning in grass, timber, and chaparral, displaying minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.

It is burning in timber, grass, and brush. Minimal fire behavior with smoldering is reported. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.
