Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 1. Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 78 new fires reported. Firefighters are managing 10 uncontained large fires, with 3 new large incidents and 1 large fire contained. Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 862. Zero Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) and zero NIMOs are committed. Year-to-date, 66,721 wildfires have burned 9,061,386 acres across the United States.
Weather
- NYC, Northeast and New England: Mainly dry weather continues under high pressure, with patchy morning frost and localized minor coastal flooding possible along southwestern Connecticut today.
- Mid-Atlantic and Southeast: Inland areas remain mostly dry and warm while South Florida sees scattered coastal showers, dangerous rip currents and elevated surf.
- Midwest, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes: Rain will affect the upper Midwest near a front while the Ozarks remain warmer than normal and mostly dry.
- Central and Southern Plains: Moisture spreading into south-central Texas brings a chance of locally heavy rainfall as western weather systems advance.
- Rockies, Southwest and West Coast: Pacific Northwest rain and mountain snow will extend into the northern interior and Rockies through Thursday.
- Alaska and Hawaii: Alaska remains cold while flood watches cover much of Hawaii through Wednesday night as locally heavy showers and thunderstorms develop.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 2 uncontained large fires active.
The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,743 acres and is 34% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter. No new information is reported.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber, and closed timber litter, exhibiting minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures remain in effect.
