Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 1.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 81 new fires reported.
Firefighters are managing 8 uncontained large fires, with 0 new large incidents and 2 large fires contained.
Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 3,206.
Zero Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMT) and zero NIMOs are committed.
Year-to-date, 66,082 wildfires have burned 9,050,184 acres across the United States.
Dry conditions persist across much of the contiguous United States, while an upper-level trough and associated moisture bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to parts of the Southwest and southern Great Basin.
Breezy conditions are expected in areas of the Southwest, while above-normal temperatures continue across the Plains and Midwest.
The Northwest and California will experience mild autumn temperatures, with cloud cover and isolated precipitation moving into northern coastal sections.
In Alaska, cold, unsettled conditions continue across the southern and central regions with mixed rain and snow, while Hawaii maintains typical trade wind conditions.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 3 uncontained large fires active.
The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,743 acres and is 34% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter, exhibiting minimal fire behavior with smoldering, creeping and backing. Residences are threatened, and area, road and trail closures are in effect.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber and closed timber litter. It exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect.
The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 93,972 acres and is 98% contained. Located fourteen miles southwest of Dufur, OR, it is burning in brush, hardwood litter and closed timber litter. The fire shows minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 33 structures have been lost.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3. Northern California reports 1 uncontained large fire, and Southern California reports 2 uncontained large fires active.
The Henderson fire at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton covers 3,260 acres and is 100% contained.
The Norte fire, managed by the Orange County Fire Authority, covers 570 acres and is 80% contained. Located one mile northwest of San Clemente, CA, it is burning in grass and chaparral. The fire exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering, creeping and backing. Road and trail closures are in effect, and 6 structures have been lost.
The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest is located four miles southeast of Big Sur, CA. It covers 25,350 acres and is 97% contained. It is burning in grass, timber and chaparral, displaying minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.
The Cooley fire, managed by the Mendocino Unit of Cal Fire, is located four miles south of Yorkville, CA. It covers 1,365 acres and is 45% contained. It is burning in timber, brush and grass, exhibiting minimal fire behavior with backing.
