Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 55 new fires reported.
Firefighters are managing 12 uncontained large fires, with 1 new large incident and 0 large fires contained.
Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 2,299.
Two Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
Year-to-date, 64,241 wildfires have burned 9,031,290 acres across the United States.
Warm and dry conditions continue across eastern Arkansas, northern Louisiana, and Mississippi today.
Northern California will see a return to above normal temperatures but with lighter winds while southern California sees slight warming but temperatures staying 10 to 15 degrees below normal.
Below normal temperatures and widespread precipitation continue across the Great Basin. This is likely being a season ending event for areas of the Great Basin still seeing fire activity.
Cool conditions continue across the northern Rockies.
Across the Rockies and the Southwest, precipitation shifts to east of the Continental Divide with minimal fire potential through this week.
The Northwest will see a return to near normal temperatures as high pressure over the northeast Pacific drifts over the area.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 4 uncontained large fires active.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,906 acres and is 95% contained. Transfer of command from CIMT (NW Team 12) back to the local unit will occur today. The CIMT is also managing the Sisi incident. Located thirty miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA, it is burning in timber and dormant brush. The fire exhibits minimal fire behavior. Structures are threatened, forty structures have been lost, and area, road and trail closures are in effect. The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,594 acres and is 34% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter with moderate fire behavior with smoldering, backing and flanking. Residences are threatened, and area, road and trail closures are in effect.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber and closed timber litter. It exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect. The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 93,972 acres and is 98% contained. Located fourteen miles southwest of Dufur, OR, it is burning in brush, hardwood litter and closed timber litter. The fire shows minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 33 structures have been lost.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports zero uncontained large fires. In Southern California, one CIMT remains committed across 3 uncontained large fires.
The Cyrus fire on the Sequoia National Forest covers 543 acres and is 85% contained. Located four miles southeast of Kernville, CA, it is burning in grass and brush with minimal fire behavior. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 6,788 acres and is 86% contained under CIMT (CA Team 4). Located one mile north of Wawona, CA, it is burning in timber, brush and medium slash. The fire exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering, and area, road and trail closures are in effect. Precipitation occurred over the fire area yesterday. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest is located four miles southeast of Big Sur, CA. It covers 25,350 acres and is 97% contained. It is burning in grass, timber and chaparral, displaying minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.

Idaho

The Buckhorn 2 fire, managed by the Twin Falls District, BLM, is located twelve miles south of Murtaugh, ID. It covers 2,000 acres and is 50% contained. It is burning in timber and brush, with no new information reported.
