Wildfire Report — National Overview
The U.S. is at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 84 new fires reported nationwide yesterday.
Firefighters are currently working to manage 11 uncontained large fires, with 1 new large incident emerging, 1 large fire contained, and 4,093 total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide.
Nationally, 3 Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
So far in 2026, firefighters have responded to 62,738 wildfires that have burned 9,000,619 acres across the United States.
A cold front will slowly move across east Texas, the Tennessee Valley, Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast today bringing scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms.
The heaviest rain will fall in east Texas and the Ohio to Tennessee Valleys. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will also develop in much of the Southeast ahead of the front, with the most widespread storms along the northern Gulf Coast and in Florida.
In the West, the warming trend continues as temperatures rise to 5–15°F above normal across most of the West, with only portions of the Southwest remaining near to below normal.
Minimum relative humidity will remain very low in California and Nevada at 5–15% with areas of poor overnight recovery, with higher minima of 15–30% in the northern Intermountain West.
Winds will be light in California and Nevada, but locally breezy west winds will develop near and east of the Divide in Montana and Wyoming.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 2, coordinating 7 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Hatch Grade fire is a new large incident managed by the Washington State Fire Marshal's Office located six miles southwest of Touchet, WA. Burning in grass and brush, it covers 9,023 acres (70% contained) with minimal fire behavior displaying smoldering. Critical infrastructure remains threatened, and 7 structures have been lost. The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,896 acres (93% contained) under CIMT (NW Team 12), which is also managing the Sisi incident. Located thirty miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA, it is burning in timber and dormant brush with minimal fire behavior displaying backing, creeping, and smoldering. Structures remain threatened, 40 structures have been lost, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Sisi fire covers 4,343 acres (29% contained) with moderate fire behavior exhibiting backing, flanking, and smoldering, threatening residences. Area, road, and trail closures remain in effect. The Sinlahekin fire one mile west of Tonasket spans 166,007 acres (96% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering, 33 structures lost, and area, road, and trail closures in effect. The Three Queens fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest covers 9,575 acres (33% contained).

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination (Preparedness Level 2).
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres (98% contained). Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber, and closed timber litter with minimal fire behavior displaying smoldering and creeping. Area, road, and trail closures remain in effect. The Grasshopper fire fourteen miles southwest of Dufur covers 93,972 acres (98% contained) in brush, hardwood litter, and closed timber litter, displaying minimal fire behavior with smoldering and creeping, with 33 structures lost and area, road, and trail closures in effect.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports no uncontained large fires detailed in today's report.
In Southern California, two CIMTs remain committed across two uncontained large fires. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 5,855 acres (40% contained). Transfer of command from CIMT (CA Team 3) to CIMT (CA Team 4) will occur today. Located one mile north of Wawona, CA, it is burning in timber, brush, and heavy slash, exhibiting moderate fire behavior with flanking, uphill runs, and single tree torching. Area, road, and trail closures remain in effect. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest four miles southeast of Big Sur stands at 25,350 acres (88% contained) in grass, timber, and chaparral. It displays minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering, while numerous structures remain threatened, 1 structure has been lost, and area, road, and trail closures remain active.
