Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 42 new fires reported.
Firefighters are managing 10 uncontained large fires, with 3 new large incidents and 1 large fire contained.
Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 3,416.
Two Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
Year-to-date, 63,822 wildfires have burned 9,013,826 acres across the United States.
A deep trough of low pressure will continue to drop south over the western US, bringing a significant cooldown to the Pacific Northwest and the Great Basin.
Winds will still be strong along the Sierra Front with gusts 40-45 mph and along the leading edge of the trough east of the Rockies, but precipitation will begin to increase to the west.
Snow is likely across western Montana and Wyoming.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will move across southern California in the afternoon, where southerly and westerly winds of 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph will continue across mountain ridges and desert passes.
Down south, Hurricane Isaias is rapidly weakening as it moves inland across Alabama, though a narrow corridor of critical RH below 35% and north and northwest winds gusting 25-45 mph is likely to develop west of the storm in the afternoon.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 4 uncontained large fires active.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,906 acres and is 93% contained under CIMT (NW Team 12). Located thirty miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA, it is burning in timber and dormant brush. The fire exhibits minimal behavior, including smoldering and creeping. Structures are threatened, 40 structures have been lost, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,439 acres and is 29% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter with moderate fire behavior, including smoldering, backing, and flanking. Residences are threatened, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber, and closed timber litter. It exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 93,972 acres and is 98% contained. Located fourteen miles southwest of Dufur, OR, it is burning in brush, hardwood litter, and closed timber litter. The fire shows minimal behavior, including creeping and smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect, and 33 structures have been lost.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports zero uncontained large fires. In Southern California, one CIMT remains committed across 4 uncontained large fires.
The Cyrus fire on the Sequoia National Forest covers 450 acres and is 0% contained. Located four miles southeast of Kernville, CA, it is burning in grass and brush with extreme fire behavior and uphill runs. Residences are threatened. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 6,829 acres and is 61% contained under CIMT (CA Team 4). Located one mile north of Wawona, CA, it is burning in timber, brush, and medium slash. The fire exhibits minimal behavior with spotting, creeping, and smoldering. The Bouquet fire on the Angeles National Forest covers 1,048 acres and is 83% contained. Located eight miles northeast of Saugus, CA, it is burning in chaparral, grass, and brush. Minimal fire behavior is reported. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest is located four miles southeast of Big Sur, CA. It covers 25,350 acres and is 97% contained. It is burning in grass, timber, and chaparral, displaying minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.
