Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 57 new fires reported. Firefighters are managing 12 uncontained large fires, with 2 new large incidents and 0 large fires contained.
Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 2,742.
Two Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
Year-to-date, 63,946 wildfires have burned 9,019,918 acres across the United States.
A ridge of high pressure building in the wake of Isaias will bring hot, unstable, and windy conditions to northern Louisiana and east Arkansas today.
A trough of low pressure over the inland Northwest will weaken today, though below normal temperatures will continue there and across the Great Basin with widespread precipitation across the Great Basin as well.
Temperatures begin to rebound over northern California, but there will be less wind today and still some showers over the Far Eastside and Tahoe regions.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms continue across southern California along with south to west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph across the mountain ridges and desert passes. Temperatures there will cool to 15 to 20 degrees below normal.
Cool conditions continue across the northern Rockies with widespread precipitation across the Southwest.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 4 uncontained large fires active.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,906 acres and is 95% contained under CIMT (NW Team 12). Located thirty miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA, it is burning in timber and dormant brush. The fire exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Structures are threatened, and area, road and trail closures are in effect. The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,439 acres and is 34% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter with moderate fire behavior with smoldering, backing and flanking. Residences are threatened, and area, road and trail closures are in effect.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber and closed timber litter. It exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect. The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 93,972 acres and is 98% contained. Located fourteen miles southwest of Dufur, OR, it is burning in brush, hardwood litter and closed timber litter. The fire shows minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 33 structures have been lost.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports zero uncontained large fires. In Southern California, one CIMT remains committed across 4 uncontained large fires.
The Cyrus fire on the Sequoia National Forest covers 543 acres and is 80% contained. Located four miles southeast of Kernville, CA, it is burning in grass and brush with minimal fire behavior. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 6,788 acres and is 73% contained under CIMT (CA Team 4). Located one mile north of Wawona, CA, it is burning in timber, brush and medium slash. The fire exhibits minimal fire behavior with spotting, creeping and smoldering, and area, road and trail closures are in effect. Precipitation occurred over the fire area yesterday. The Bouquet fire on the Angeles National Forest covers 1,048 acres and is 93% contained. Located eight miles northeast of Saugus, CA, it is burning in chaparral, grass and brush with minimal fire behavior. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest is located four miles southeast of Big Sur, CA. It covers 25,350 acres and is 97% contained. It is burning in grass, timber and chaparral, displaying minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.

Idaho
Idaho coordinates wildland fire operations across both the Northern Rockies (Preparedness Level 1) and Great Basin (Preparedness Level 2) geographic areas.
The Buckhorn 2 fire, managed by the Twin Falls District, BLM, is located twelve miles south of Murtaugh, ID. It covers 2,000 acres and is 50% contained. It is burning in timber and brush, exhibiting moderate fire behavior with flanking, torching and backing. Structures are threatened, and precipitation occurred over the fire area yesterday.

It is burning in timber, grass and brush. Minimal fire behavior is reported. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.
