Wildfire Report — National Overview
The United States is operating at Preparedness Level 1.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 88 new fires reported.
Firefighters are managing 9 uncontained large fires, with 1 new large incident and 1 large fire contained.
Total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide is 2,059.
Zero Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) and zero NIMOs are committed.
Year-to-date, 65,543 wildfires have burned 9,044,523 acres across the United States.
Weather
- NYC, Northeast and New England: Inland areas remain mostly sunny and dry while offshore Josephine brings gusty coastal winds, dangerous surf and colder nights across parts of New England.
- Mid-Atlantic and Southeast: Dry weather dominates inland, but large Atlantic swells and minor to moderate coastal flooding remain concerns along the Mid-Atlantic coast.
- Midwest, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes: Mild, mainly dry conditions continue, with dense fog possible around daybreak Friday in parts of the Great Lakes.
- Central and Southern Plains: Warm afternoons and generally dry weather persist across much of the region, including temperatures above seasonal averages in parts of Texas.
- Rockies, Southwest and West Coast: Rain and scattered thunderstorms affect California while the Southwest and Four Corners face heavy downpours and localized flooding after Arizona’s damaging hailstorms.
- Alaska and Hawaii: Anchorage remains cold and mostly sunny while Honolulu experiences partial sunshine and isolated afternoon showers.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1. The region reports 3 uncontained large fires active.
The Sisi fire on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is located ten miles northwest of Stehekin, WA. It covers 4,743 acres and is 34% contained. It is burning in timber and closed timber litter, exhibiting minimal fire behavior with smoldering, creeping and backing. Residences are threatened, and area, road and trail closures are in effect.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination at Preparedness Level 1.
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,888 acres and is 98% contained. Located twenty-five miles southeast of Estacada, OR, the fire is burning in brush, timber and closed timber litter. It exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect.
The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 93,972 acres and is 98% contained. Located fourteen miles southwest of Dufur, OR, it is burning in brush, hardwood litter and closed timber litter. The fire shows minimal fire behavior. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 33 structures have been lost.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3. Northern California reports 1 uncontained large fire, and Southern California reports 2 uncontained large fires active.
The Norte fire, managed by the Orange County Fire Authority, covers 570 acres and is 95% contained. Located one mile northwest of San Clemente, CA, it is burning in grass and chaparral. The fire exhibits minimal fire behavior with smoldering. This is the last report unless significant activity occurs, and 6 structures have been lost.
The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest is located four miles southeast of Big Sur, CA. It covers 25,350 acres and is 97% contained. It is burning in grass, timber and chaparral, displaying minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Area, road and trail closures are in effect, and 1 structure has been lost.
The Cooley fire, managed by the Mendocino Unit of Cal Fire, is located four miles south of Yorkville, CA. It covers 1,365 acres and is 74% contained. It is burning in timber, brush and grass, exhibiting minimal fire behavior with smoldering.
