Wildfire Report — National Overview
The U.S. is at Preparedness Level 2. Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 78 new fires reported nationwide yesterday. Firefighters are currently working to manage 15 uncontained large fires, with 1 new large incident emerging, 2 large fires contained, and 6,308 total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide. Nationally, 5 Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed. So far in 2026, firefighters have responded to 57,168 wildfires that have burned 8,561,140 acres across the United States.
Dry southwesterly winds of 12–20 mph with gusts of 20–35 mph will develop across southern Nevada into southwest Utah amid minimum relative humidity of 10–20%, creating areas of elevated fire weather conditions. Lighter winds are expected across the northwestern U.S., though breezy west winds will continue near and east of the Continental Divide in Montana and Wyoming. Dry conditions are expected in California with temperatures remaining slightly above normal for the southern half of the state. Drier conditions will move into New Mexico with only isolated showers, while Arizona remains mild and dry. Above-normal temperatures will persist from the southern Plains to the Lower Mississippi Valley with light winds and minimum relative humidity near or above 30%. Dry northerly winds around 10 mph will reach east into Georgia and the Carolinas. Off the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England coasts, a strong Nor'easter will produce strong northeast winds, coastal flooding, and heavy rain for Long Island and southern and eastern New England. In Hawai'i, heavy rain and strong winds will persist across Maui and the Big Island as Hurricane Nolo passes south of the islands, with localized flooding expected.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 2, coordinating 8 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,891 acres (81% contained) with minimal fire behavior displaying creeping, backing, and smoldering under CIMT (NW Team 13); the team is also managing the Sisi incident. Structures remain threatened, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect following precipitation yesterday. The Sisi fire covers 4,305 acres (15% contained) with moderate fire behavior exhibiting backing, creeping, and flanking, threatening residences. The Sinlahekin fire near Tonasket spans 166,007 acres (93% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering. The Three Queens fire east of Snoqualmie Pass stands at 9,551 acres (31% contained) with minimal smoldering, where numerous residences and critical infrastructure remain threatened. Precipitation occurred over all active fire areas yesterday, and area, road, and trail closures remain in effect.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination (Preparedness Level 2).
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,884 acres (98% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 2), displaying minimal smoldering and creeping. CA Team 2 is also managing The Narrows fire (305 acres; 98% contained) and the Grasshopper fire (93,971 acres; 98% contained), both of which are exhibiting minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. The Hagen fire east of Pendleton in the Umatilla National Forest stands at 61,380 acres (97% contained) under CIMT (NW Team 7), with minimal creeping and smoldering reported. Rain fell over the Austin, Narrows, and Hagen incident areas yesterday, and area, road, and trail closures remain in place across these fires.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports no active uncontained large fires.
In Southern California, two CIMTs remain committed across three uncontained large fires. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 4,361 acres (18% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 3), exhibiting moderate fire behavior with flanking, uphill runs, and single-tree torching; area, road, and trail closures remain in effect. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest southeast of Big Sur stands at 25,341 acres (59% contained) with moderate fire behavior showing backing and uphill runs, with numerous structures threatened. The Plaskett fire southwest of Big Sur spans 29,993 acres (98% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 6), displaying minimal creeping. CA Team 6 also manages the Timber incident, where a slight acreage reduction was noted following more accurate mapping.

The Sand Creek fire east of Wisdom on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest spans 35,520 acres (83% contained) with minimal fire behavior displaying backing, creeping, and smoldering. Structures remain threatened, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Davis Coulee fire on the Crow Agency covers 15,470 acres (80% contained) with minimal fire behavior; this marks the final report on the incident unless significant activity occurs.
