The U.S. is at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 91 new fires reported nationwide yesterday.
Firefighters are currently working to manage 14 uncontained large fires, with 0 new large incidents emerging, 1 large fire contained, and 4,826 total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide.
Nationally, 5 Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
So far in 2026, firefighters have responded to 62,218 wildfires that have burned 8,603,723 acres across the United States.
Locally breezy northerly winds in portions of the Sacramento Valley and southern California will diminish this morning, but relative humidity of 10–15% will persist amid above normal temperatures.
Lighter winds are expected today across the northwestern U.S. as a weak cold front moves through with temperatures either slightly above or below normal ahead of or behind the front, respectively.
An upper-level low will move through the Southwest and Colorado with scattered showers and thunderstorms and below normal temperatures.
A cold front will stretch from Colorado into the Great Lakes with widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms.
Widespread showers and thunderstorms, with a few severe thunderstorms, will produce areas of heavy rain and flooding in central Texas and Oklahoma today as moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Polo moves across the region.
Farther east, breezy south winds of 10–18 mph are expected amid above normal temperatures and minimum relative humidity of 25–35%, creating elevated conditions.
Otherwise, isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue across the Gulf Coast and Florida.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 2, coordinating 8 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,891 acres (93% contained). Transfer of command from CIMT (NW Team 13) to CIMT (NW Team 12) will occur today. The CIMT is also managing the Sisi incident. The fire is located thirty miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA, burning in timber and dormant brush with minimal fire behavior displaying creeping, backing, and smoldering. Structures remain threatened, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Sisi fire covers 4,330 acres (29% contained) with moderate fire behavior exhibiting backing, flanking, and creeping, threatening residences. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Sinlahekin fire near Tonasket spans 166,007 acres (93% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures are in effect. The Three Queens fire east of Snoqualmie Pass covers 9,575 acres (33% contained) in timber, brush, and grass, with no new information reported today.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination (Preparedness Level 2).
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,889 acres (98% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 2), displaying minimal smoldering and creeping. CA Team 2 is also managing The Narrows and Grasshopper incidents. The Narrows fire covers 305 acres (98% contained) exhibiting minimal fire behavior with smoldering. The Grasshopper fire covers 93,972 acres (98% contained) displaying minimal fire behavior with smoldering and creeping. The Hagen fire east of Pendleton on the Umatilla National Forest stands at 61,380 acres (99% contained) with minimal smoldering. Area, road, and trail closures remain in place across all of these incident areas.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports no uncontained large fires detailed in today's report.
In Southern California, two CIMTs remain committed across two uncontained large fires. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 5,410 acres (39% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 3), with CIMT (CA Team 4) mobilizing. It is exhibiting moderate fire behavior with flanking, uphill runs, and single tree torching, with area, road, and trail closures in effect. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest southeast of Big Sur stands at 25,349 acres (88% contained) with minimal fire behavior displaying creeping and backing, while numerous structures remain threatened and closures remain active. The Plaskett fire in the Los Padres National Forest stands at 29,993 acres and has reached 100% containment.
