Wildfire Report — National Overview
The U.S. is at Preparedness Level 2.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 55 new fires reported nationwide yesterday.
Firefighters are currently working to manage 16 uncontained large fires, with 3 new large incidents emerging, 0 large fires contained, and 6,003 total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide.
Nationally, 5 Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
So far in 2026, firefighters have responded to 57,223 wildfires that have burned 8,562,096 acres across the United States.
Above normal temperatures will persist across the southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley today, with areas of low afternoon relative humidity as low as 25% accompanied by light winds.
In the West, temperatures will average below normal with mostly light winds, though areas of low afternoon relative humidity will stretch across central and southern California into Nevada.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop later in the day across the Southwest as moisture from Hurricane Polo off the Mexican coast tracks northward.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms will also develop in the Lower Mississippi Valley, while rain falls along a cold front in the northern Plains.
Heavy rain is forecast across much of southern and eastern New England as a strong Nor'easter continues to impact the region with strong northeast winds and coastal flooding.
In Hawai'i, winds will slowly weaken as Hurricane Nolo moves westward away from the islands, bringing a decrease in showers.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 2, coordinating 9 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,891 acres (81% contained) under CIMT (NW Team 13), exhibiting minimal fire behavior with creeping, backing, and smoldering; NW Team 13 is also managing the Sisi incident. Structures remain threatened, and area, road, and trail closures are in effect following precipitation over the fire area yesterday. The Sisi fire covers 4,305 acres (15% contained) with moderate fire behavior displaying backing, flanking, and creeping, threatening residences. The Sinlahekin fire near Tonasket spans 166,007 acres (93% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering. The Three Queens fire east of Snoqualmie Pass covers 9,575 acres (31% contained) with minimal smoldering, where numerous residences and critical infrastructure remain threatened. The newly reported Second Street fire southeast of Benton City spans 1,151 acres (60% contained) in grass and brush, exhibiting extreme fire behavior with wind-driven runs while threatening residences and energy infrastructure. Area, road, and trail closures remain in effect across active complex fires.

Oregon
Oregon wildland fire operations continue under Northwest Area coordination (Preparedness Level 2).
The Austin fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest covers 12,884 acres (98% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 2), displaying minimal smoldering and creeping. CA Team 2 is also managing The Narrows fire (305 acres; 98% contained) and the Grasshopper fire (93,971 acres; 98% contained), both of which are exhibiting minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. The Hagen fire east of Pendleton on the Umatilla National Forest stands at 61,380 acres (97% contained), with minimal creeping and smoldering reported; transfer of command from CIMT (NW Team 7) back to the local unit will occur tomorrow. Rain fell over the Austin, Narrows, Grasshopper, and Hagen incident areas yesterday, and area, road, and trail closures remain in place.

California
Northern California is operating at Preparedness Level 2, and Southern California is operating at Preparedness Level 3.
Northern California reports no active uncontained large fires.
In Southern California, two CIMTs remain committed across three uncontained large fires. The Dome fire in Yosemite National Park covers 4,606 acres (30% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 3), exhibiting moderate fire behavior with flanking, uphill runs, and single-tree torching; area, road, and trail closures remain in effect. The Plaskett fire in the Los Padres National Forest southwest of Big Sur spans 29,993 acres (98% contained) under CIMT (CA Team 6), displaying minimal creeping. CA Team 6 also manages the Timber fire southeast of Big Sur, which stands at 25,346 acres (71% contained) with minimal creeping and backing while numerous structures remain threatened. Area, road, and trail closures remain active across both Los Padres incidents.
