The U.S. is at Preparedness Level 3.
Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 86 new fires reported nationwide yesterday.
Firefighters are currently working to manage 46 uncontained large fires, with 0 new large incidents emerging, 2 large fires contained, and 11,323 total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide.
Nationally, 9 Complex Incident Management Teams (CIMTs) are committed.
So far in 2026, firefighters have responded to 56,448 wildfires that have burned 8,540,640 acres across the United States.
Temperatures will remain hot across the southern Plains and middle Mississippi Valley today with highs reaching near 100°F.
Breezy winds with gusts of 25 to 35 mph will develop from the Texas Panhandle across central Oklahoma this afternoon.
Flood Watches remain in effect for northern Wyoming and south-central Montana today as heavy rain continues beneath an upper-level trough moving eastward.
The eastward progression of the trough will also cause breezy winds gusting to 30 mph to develop along the Front Range and in the eastern Sierra.
A warming and drying trend will begin across the Pacific Northwest as a weak, transient ridge of high pressure builds over the area.
Well below normal temperatures continue across the Great Basin and Northern Rockies, while California remains near to slightly below normal.
Minimum relative humidity across Northern California will drop to 10–20%, while relative humidity lowers to 7–15% across Nevada and the Mojave Desert.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 3, coordinating 15 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest stands at 172,814 acres (81% contained) with minimal creeping, backing, and smoldering under CIMT Northwest Team 13; the team is also managing the Sisi fire, which covers 3,731 acres (15% contained) with active backing, flanking, and isolated torching while threatening residences and energy infrastructure. The Sinlahekin fire near Tonasket spans 166,012 acres (84% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering, with residences remaining threatened and area, road, and trail closures in effect.
The Three Queens fire east of Snoqualmie Pass covers 9,562 acres (23% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering under CIMT Northwest Team 2, which is also managing the King fire (3,304 acres; 0% contained) and the Goat fire (815 acres; 70% contained). All three fires exhibit creeping and smoldering, with evacuations and closures remaining in effect for Three Queens and Goat, while numerous residences and critical infrastructure remain threatened near Three Queens. Additional active incidents across Washington include Ptarmigan (25,166 acres; 73% contained), Border 2 (8,362 acres; 64% contained), and Luna (7,879 acres; 53% contained), with Border 2 and Luna displaying moderate backing, flanking, and creeping in North Cascades National Park.

Oregon
Oregon continues to manage extensive wildland fire operations under Northwest Area coordination.
The Rowe Creek Complex south of Fossil stands at 373,927 acres (99% contained) with minimal smoldering under CIMT ODF Team 1, aided by precipitation that fell over the fire area yesterday. The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest spans 93,996 acres (98% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering. The Austin fire has burned 12,886 acres (98% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering, with a scheduled transfer of command today from CIMT Northwest Team 10 to CIMT California Team 2; the incoming team is also managing The Narrows fire (305 acres; 98% contained) and Grasshopper.
The Hagen fire east of Pendleton covers 61,382 acres (87% contained) under CIMT Northwest Team 7, exhibiting minimal creeping and smoldering with area, road, and trail closures in place. The Paradise fire in the Umatilla National Forest spans 9,656 acres (86% contained) with minimal fire behavior, with critical infrastructure remaining threatened.

California
Both Northern California and Southern California are operating at Preparedness Level 3.
In Northern California, the Floriston fire northeast of Truckee covers 622 acres (25% contained) with minimal smoldering and creeping following an acreage reduction due to more accurate mapping; energy infrastructure remains threatened, with area and road closures in effect. The Lucas fire north of Upper Lake covers 4,128 acres (84% contained) with minimal fire behavior, though communication infrastructure remains threatened and closures persist.
In Southern California, the Dome fire in Yosemite National Park spans 2,186 acres (15% contained) under CIMT California Team 3, displaying moderate fire behavior with flanking, uphill runs, and single tree torching. The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest southeast of Big Sur stands at 25,435 acres (59% contained) with minimal backing, creeping, and smoldering under CIMT Southwest Team 1, continuing to threaten numerous structures and communication infrastructure. The Plaskett fire southwest of Big Sur spans 29,993 acres (97% contained) under CIMT California Team 6, with minimal creeping and backing.

Idaho
Idaho coordinates active suppression operations across both the Great Basin and Northern Rockies geographic areas.
In southern and central Idaho within the Great Basin Area (Preparedness Level 2), the Doublesprings fire northwest of Mackay stands at 1,779 acres (70% contained) with minimal smoldering, issuing its last report unless significant activity occurs. The Crooked fire on the Boise National Forest achieved full containment at 10,081 acres (100% contained).
In northern Idaho within the Northern Rockies Area, the Cascade fire east of Lowell covers 7,475 acres (70% contained) with minimal smoldering and creeping. The Upper Smith fire west of Porthill spans 4,848 acres (41% contained) with minimal smoldering. The Silver fire northwest of Sandpoint covers 2,593 acres (30% contained) with minimal backing, creeping, and smoldering, and the Parker Lake fire west of Copeland stands at 1,531 acres (0% contained) with minimal smoldering.

Montana
The Northern Rockies Area is operating at Preparedness Level 1, coordinating 9 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Davis Coulee fire southwest of Crow Agency stands at 15,470 acres (50% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering. The Sand Creek fire east of Wisdom spans 35,520 acres (58% contained), and the Bobcat Lakes fire covers 10,896 acres (72% contained); both fires exhibit minimal backing, creeping, and smoldering following rain yesterday, with Sand Creek continuing to threaten structures and communication infrastructure.
Additional active fires across Montana include Moose (6,005 acres; 15% contained) and Nature Grove (1,422 acres; 0% contained).

The Aspen Acres fire southwest of Pueblo in Custer County spans 102,004 acres (82% contained) with moderate creeping and smoldering. The Willow fire west of Leadville stands at 7,389 acres (80% contained) with minimal smoldering and creeping following rain over the burn area yesterday. The Elk fire northwest of Lake City spans 7,257 acres (73% contained). The Swiss Roll fire east of Pagosa Springs covers 777 acres (0% contained) with minimal smoldering, and energy infrastructure remains threatened despite precipitation over the incident yesterday.

The Clark fire southwest of Rock Springs stands at 970 acres (90% contained) with minimal smoldering, following an acreage reduction due to more accurate mapping. The Hydra fire south of Meridian spans 933 acres (35% contained) with minimal smoldering and single tree torching, also reflecting updated mapping.
