White House Bars CNN from Air Force One — Press Standoff Enters New Phase
The White House blocked CNN from traveling on Air Force One Saturday for President Trump's trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, to attend the Tennessee-Texas college football game — replacing the network with Real America's Voice, a conservative outlet.
The move came just days after U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary restraining order requiring the Trump administration to restore press credentials to CNN, MS NOW, and Politico.
All four of CNN's fellow TV pool networks — Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC — declined to participate in pool coverage in solidarity.
Trump posted on Truth Social Saturday morning asking why outlets producing "FAKE NEWS" should be allowed White House access, then told a reporter from MS NOW directly, "I want real news, not fake news — like you."
The judge's TRO remains in effect for 14 days, but it addressed White House grounds access only — not Air Force One travel specifically — leaving the administration room to maneuver.
