National Overview
Wildfire Report — National Overview
The U.S. is at Preparedness Level 5. Currently, 87 large fires are being suppressed across the country, with 29,548 personnel assigned nationally. NIFC reports 3,879,418 acres burned on large fires. Year-to-date, firefighters have responded to 48,848 wildfires burning over 7,219,058 acres.
An international contingent from Australia and New Zealand — three 15-member incident management teams and 196 fireline management personnel — remains assigned to support large fires in the Northwest and Great Basin geographic areas. Two hundred forty soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division based out of Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) are deployed in support of wildland fire operations on the Modrite fire. One Large Airtanker and one Birddog from Manitoba, Canada have been deployed to Boise, ID. Two MAFFS C-130 airtankers and support personnel from the 302nd Airlift Wing (Air Force Reserve, CO) have been deployed to Klamath Falls, OR, and two MAFFS C-130 airtankers from the 146th Airlift Wing (CA Air National Guard) have been deployed to Redding, CA.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms producing little to no wetting rainfall are expected to expand across more of the Northwest, central and northeast California, northwest Nevada, Idaho, and far western Montana. Farther south and east, storms will be wetter and generally less efficient at new ignitions across the central and southern Great Basin, eastern Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and the Southwest. Relative humidity across most of the West will continue to moderate, with minima running 15 to 35 percent in many areas and temperatures near to slightly below normal.
Washington
Washington carries active large incidents, with several continuing to draw the bulk of resources across the state.
The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest extends through remote terrain around the Entiat River, Chiwawa River, Glacier Peak Wilderness, and Lake Chelan.
The Sinlahekin fire, northwest of Sinlahekin Campground near Tonasket, has spread toward Palmer Mountain, Rattlesnake Peak, South Pine Creek, and areas west of the Okanogan River, with moderate fire behavior and isolated torching.
The Kaiser Canyon fire in the Colville Agency has moderate fire behavior with backing, creeping, and smoldering, and numerous structures and communication infrastructure remain threatened.
The Ptarmigan fire is active in the Pasayten Wilderness near the Pasayten Airstrip and the Middle Fork Pasayten River drainage.
The Modrite fire in the Northeast Region, burning across Ferry and Stevens counties near Inchelium, stands at almost 57,700 acres and is 80 percent contained, exhibiting moderate fire behavior with backing, creeping, and smoldering.
Additional incidents in and around the Spokane area include the Autumn Lane fire across Spokane and Stevens counties, which is at about 5,764 acres and 97 percent contained; the Old Trails Fire affecting areas around Nine Mile Road and West Francis Avenue; and the Fairview Fire near Mead.

Oregon
Oregon leads all states with more than 20 active large incidents and a cumulative large-fire footprint well into the millions of acres — one of the most severe fire seasons in state history.
The Big Grass fire in the Vale District remains among the largest active incidents in the country at 579,361 acres and 34% containment, with active wind-driven runs, short-range spotting, and single tree torching and numerous structures and critical infrastructure threatened.
The Rowe Creek Complex in the Prineville District stands at 373,540 acres and 78% containment, with moderate flanking, backing, and single tree torching and numerous residences and communication infrastructure threatened.
The Coleman Creek fire in the Burns District is at 308,721 acres and 90% contained, now showing only minimal smoldering.
The Wrights Spring fire near Altamont has burned over 33,000 acres and remains in the very early stages of containment.
The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest has grown to 83,619 acres at 20% containment, which is also managing the new Austin incident at 1,200 acres and zero containment; active smoldering, creeping, and isolated torching continue on Grasshopper, while Austin is exhibiting uphill runs, long-range spotting, and wind-driven runs with structures threatened.
The Hagen fire in the Umatilla National Forest has grown to 53,306 acres at 11% containment, with a new Paradise fire — eighteen miles east of Milton-Freewater — also active at 3,946 acres and zero containment on the same forest; both fires are showing running, torching, and spotting and have residences and critical infrastructure threatened.
The Rosenbaum fire in the Fossil Unit stands 10 miles northwest of Spray, with moderate fire behavior including flanking, backing, and creeping, and structures threatened.
The Second Flat fire in the Burns District is at 105,501 acres and 90% contained.

California
California reports active large incidents in both the Northern and Southern California GACCs.
The Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest, near Big Sur, is at 3,774 acres and only 7% contained; active uphill runs, single tree torching, and short-range spotting continue, with numerous residences and critical infrastructure threatened, and evacuations in effect.
The MP18 fire near Hoopa in Humboldt County has grown to 3,613 acres and remains only 6% contained, continuing to exhibit extreme fire behavior including short crown runs, uphill runs, and spotting, with numerous structures threatened.
The Gann fire in Tuolumne-Calaveras County is now at 100% containment at 10,339 acres.
The Plains fire in San Luis Obispo County has sparked at 795 acres and zero containment, with active wind-driven runs.
The Hatchet fire in Tulare County is at 606 acres and 95% contained.

Idaho
Idaho carries active incidents across the Boise, Great Basin, and Northern Rockies GACCs.
The Tartar fire in the Boise District remains the largest Idaho incident at 158,027 acres and 98% containment, now showing only minimal smoldering and creeping.
The MM115 Hwy 20 fire in the Southwest Supervisory Area is at 5,139 acres and 90% containment, with minimal backing, creeping, and isolated torching and structures and communication infrastructure threatened.
The Doublesprings fire in the Salmon-Challis National Forest stands at 1,696 acres and 5% containment, with moderate group torching, backing, and smoldering.
The Lake fire in the Payette National Forest has grown to 189 acres and 40% containment, with active isolated torching, creeping, and smoldering and numerous structures threatened.
The Upper Smith fire in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest is at 3,600 acres and 30% containment, with active flanking, torching, and backing and structures and energy infrastructure threatened.
The Moose Mountain fire in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest is at 2,108 acres and 7% containment, with moderate uphill runs, group torching, and flanking and structures threatened.

Montana
Montana reports more than ten active large incidents across the Northern Rockies GACC. Several fires continue to burn across the western and central parts of the state.
The Sand Creek fire in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is at 27,576 acres and zero containment, with active uphill runs, flanking, and group torching, and numerous structures threatened and evacuations, road, and trail closures in effect.
The Bobcat Lakes fire, also in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge, has grown to 9,245 acres at zero containment, with active short crown runs, uphill runs, and flanking and structures threatened and closures in effect.
The Silvertip fire in the Flathead National Forest has grown to 6,681 acres and remains uncontained, now showing moderate backing, creeping, and uphill runs with structures threatened.
The Skillet fire on the Flathead National Forest is at 3,375 acres and 39% containment; moderate torching, spotting, and backing continue with railroad infrastructure threatened.
The Moose fire in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge has grown to 5,524 acres with zero containment, exhibiting active short crown runs, group torching, and short-range spotting, with residences threatened and evacuations in effect.
The Black Bear fire in the Bitterroot National Forest has reached 2,106 acres at 20% containment, with moderate backing and creeping and structures threatened.

Wyoming
Wyoming's large-fire footprint is centered on the Beaverhead-Teton and Wind River-Bighorn Basin districts.
The Bare fire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest is at 370 acres and 17% containment, with behavior now limited to moderate creeping and smoldering; structures and energy infrastructure remain threatened.
The Weiser Knoll fire in the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District stands at 16,531 acres and 51% containment, with minimal smoldering behavior and residences threatened.
A Cold Springs fire in Converse County has reached 1,966 acres at 90% containment with moderate fire behavior and numerous residences threatened.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast across much of Wyoming today with generally wetter storm cores across the eastern two-thirds of the state, bringing some modest relief, though outflow winds can produce sudden and erratic conditions on active incidents.

Nevada
Nevada carries active large incidents.
The Bug and Stallion Fire complex near Cold Springs has burned about 122,000 acres and is 15 percent contained.
The New Pass fire in the Carson City District stands at 37,899 acres and 92% containment, with minimal creeping and smoldering.
The Mouse Meadow fire at Nellis Air Force Base has grown to 52,000 acres at 80% containment, with minimal creeping and smoldering.
The Ward fire in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest near Ely holds at 8,683 acres and 90% containment.
Thunderstorms with heavier rainfall are moving northward across eastern Nevada today, but the northern edge may still see a mix of dry and wet storm types with outflow wind gusts to near 40 mph and some risk of new starts from isolated lightning outside rain cores.

Utah
Utah's fire situation remains serious, with critical conditions persisting and a Red Flag Warning in effect for central Utah.
The Widemouth 2 fire in the Fishlake National Forest has grown to 129,574 acres and containment is at 50%; fire behavior has moderated to creeping, torching, and smoldering, though numerous structures and critical infrastructure remain threatened and evacuations are in effect.
The Rocky Canyon fire near Henefer has grown to 15,662 acres at 29% containment, with active uphill runs, torching, and backing and numerous residences threatened.
The Black Canyon fire in the Manti-La Sal National Forest stands at 3,549 acres and 16% containment, with moderate flanking, creeping, and isolated torching, and residences and energy infrastructure threatened.

Colorado
Colorado has active large incidents across multiple districts.
The Aspen Acres fire in Custer County remains the largest at 102,004 acres and 72% containment, with minimal backing and creeping and communication infrastructure threatened.
The Gold Mountain fire, two miles north of Ouray, is at 39,674 acres at 87% containment, with active flanking, backing, and single tree torching and energy infrastructure threatened. The Elk fire, seven miles northwest of Lake City, is at 7,404 acres and 35% containment with similar active behavior and numerous structures threatened and evacuations in effect.
The Willow fire near Leadville stands at 7,534 acres and 67% containment with minimal fire behavior.
The 310 fire in Garfield County stands at 603 acres and 76% containment.
New incidents in the area include the Post fire in Las Animas County at 2,427 acres and zero containment, with active running and flanking.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast today for much of Colorado, with generally wetter storm cores bringing some relief, particularly to the south and east.

Arizona
Arizona's large-fire footprint on the IMSR remains limited, with monsoon activity the primary variable today.
Wetter storms are expected to be scattered near and south of the Mogollon Rim, providing meaningful relative humidity recovery in those areas. Isolated mixed wet and dry storms in northern Arizona and southern Great Basin areas carry some ignition potential in drier fuels. Thunderstorm outflow winds can produce sudden and erratic behavior on any existing incidents, and new lightning ignitions away from storm cores cannot be ruled out.

New Mexico
New Mexico shows active incidents across multiple counties.
The Frijoles fire in the Santa Fe National Forest is at 7,794 acres and is only 1% contained; the fire is burning in timber and grass three miles east of Cundiyo with active running, flanking, and backing and numerous residences and communication infrastructure threatened, with evacuations, area, road, and trail closures in effect.
The Johnson fire in the Gila National Forest stands at 450 acres and zero containment, with moderate creeping, backing, and smoldering and structures threatened.
Lightning remains an active ignition concern today, particularly where storms produce little rainfall, and thunderstorm outflows can generate sudden wind shifts near existing incidents.
