Wildfire Report — National Overview
The U.S. remains at Preparedness Level 5. Initial attack activity across the country is light, with 184 new fires reported nationwide yesterday. Firefighters are currently working to manage 98 uncontained large fires, with 8 new large incidents emerging and 22,168 total personnel assigned to incidents nationwide. So far in 2026, firefighters have responded to 51,961 wildfires that have burned 8,221,246 acres across the United States.
An international contingent from Australia and New Zealand — two 15-member incident management teams and 212 fireline personnel — remains assigned to support large fires in the Northwest and Great Basin geographic areas. Two hundred forty soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) remain deployed in support of wildland fire operations on the Little Giant fire, supported by an assigned Incident Management Organization (IMO). Two MAFFS C-130 airtankers from the 302nd Airlift Wing (Air Force Reserve, CO) and one from the 152nd Airlift Wing (NV Air National Guard) are deployed to Santa Maria, CA, while two MAFFS C-130 airtankers and support personnel from the 146th Airlift Wing (CA Air National Guard) are deployed to Redding, CA.
Breezy westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts of 25 to 45 mph, are expected across parts of the northern and central Rockies. Winds across remaining parts of the Pacific Northwest and northern Great Basin are expected to be lighter than previous days, though locally dry and breezy winds continue across parts of the Sierra Front, southern Nevada and Utah, and much of Arizona amid relative humidity of 5% to 25%. Relative humidity of 10% to 20% will persist across inland California and the northern Great Basin, while 12% to 25% relative humidity and breezy southerly winds are expected from north Texas into Oklahoma, bringing high-risk significant fire potential. Isolated to scattered mixed wet and dry thunderstorms are forecast across eastern Nevada extending across Utah and southern Wyoming into the central Rockies, as well as Arizona and eastern New Mexico. Scattered thunderstorms are expected over the central and northern Plains, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms across Florida and the northern Gulf Coast.
Washington
The Northwest Area is operating at Preparedness Level 4, coordinating 26 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Sinlahekin fire near Tonasket spans 166,868 acres (41% contained) with moderate fire behavior including flanking, single tree torching, and smoldering under CIMT Southwest Team 3. The Little Giant fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest northwest of Leavenworth stands at 162,961 acres (27% contained) with minimal smoldering and creeping under CIMT California Team 5, which is also managing the Sisi fire (1,794 acres; 0% contained).
The Kaiser Canyon fire south of Nespelem covers 138,293 acres (98% contained) with minimal smoldering. The Three Queens fire east of Snoqualmie Pass stands at 8,596 acres (5% contained) with flanking, creeping, and isolated torching under CIMT Northern Rockies Team 2, which is also managing the King fire (2,326 acres; 0% contained), Goat fire (687 acres; 0% contained), Wonderland Complex (339 acres; 0% contained), and Grand Park 2 fire (168 acres; 82% contained). Additional active incidents across Washington include Ptarmigan (25,104 acres; 55% contained), Border 2 (7,633 acres; 73% contained), Luna (5,740 acres; 27% contained), High Lava (2,894 acres; 30% contained), and Electric (500 acres; 0% contained).

Oregon
Oregon continues to manage extensive wildland fire activity under Northwest Area coordination.
The Big Grass fire southwest of Jordan Valley spans 578,637 acres (94% contained) with minimal creeping and smoldering. The Rowe Creek Complex south of Fossil stands at 373,927 acres (92% contained) under CIMT California Team 4.
The Grasshopper fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest has burned 93,924 acres (83% contained) with backing, creeping, and isolated torching, managed alongside the Austin fire (10,261 acres; 0% contained) and The Narrows fire (292 acres; 0% contained) by CIMT Great Basin Team 4. The Hagen fire (60,861 acres; 35% contained) and Paradise fire (9,324 acres; 15% contained) in the Umatilla National Forest exhibit moderate fire behavior with backing, creeping, and smoldering under CIMT Southern Area Team 3.
The Wrights Spring fire near Sprague River covers 55,134 acres (85% contained) under CIMT Northwest Team 7. The McCully fire northwest of Baker City spans 9,484 acres (0% contained) with active flanking, group torching, and spotting under CIMT Northwest Team 3. Other active fires include Egypt (4,553 acres; 82% contained), Rosenbaum (483 acres; 89% contained), Mitchell Springs (5,444 acres; 100% contained), and North Pole (310 acres; 100% contained).

California
Northern California and Southern California are both operating at Preparedness Level 3.
In Northern California, the S 1 Vya fire north of Vya spans 9,692 acres (43% contained) with minimal smoldering and creeping under CIMT California Team 2, which is also managing the MP18 fire (7,601 acres; 94% contained) north of Hoopa.
In Southern California, the Timber fire in the Los Padres National Forest southeast of Big Sur has burned 24,839 acres (21% contained) with active flanking, uphill runs, and single tree torching under CIMT California Team 3, which is also managing the Plaskett fire (8,241 acres; 1% contained) southwest of Big Sur.

Idaho
Idaho coordinates active incidents across both the Great Basin and Northern Rockies geographic areas.
In southern Idaho, the Wildhorse fire north of Kimama covers 107,562 acres (70% contained) with minimal fire behavior. The Crooked fire on the Boise National Forest stands at 7,430 acres (12% contained) with active torching, flanking, and spotting as CIMT Great Basin Team 3 mobilizes. The Flint fire southwest of Nampa spans 6,763 acres (35% contained). Other southern Idaho incidents include the Coldwater fire (1,900 acres; 85% contained) and Doublesprings fire (1,779 acres; 35% contained).
In northern Idaho, the Moose Mountain fire covers 5,486 acres (8% contained) with active backing, group torching, and spotting. The Upper Smith fire spans 4,701 acres (36% contained) with moderate single tree torching, flanking, and backing. Additional northern Idaho incidents include Silver (2,424 acres; 0% contained), Parker Lake (1,309 acres; 0% contained), Dudley (557 acres; 0% contained), Porcupine (175 acres; 0% contained), Cascade (6,800 acres; 50% contained), Wolf Creek (2,280 acres; 25% contained), Grotto (1,200 acres; 0% contained), and Three Links (760 acres; 0% contained).

The Northern Rockies Area is at Preparedness Level 3, tracking 21 uncontained large fires across the region.
The Sand Creek fire east of Wisdom spans 34,083 acres (13% contained) with minimal flanking, backing, and isolated torching under CIMT Northern Rockies Team 1, which is also managing the Bobcat Lakes fire (10,784 acres; 40% contained), Moose fire (5,970 acres; 12% contained), and the new Skull fire (51 acres; 0% contained).
The Camp Creek fire in the Flathead National Forest stands at 8,500 acres (0% contained). Other active fires across Montana include Silvertip (7,144 acres; 15% contained), Skillet (3,409 acres; 82% contained), Deer Creek (1,099 acres; 62% contained), Nature Grove (991 acres; 0% contained), Roe 2 (978 acres; 10% contained), and Cooper (176 acres; 0% contained).

The Great Basin Area is at Preparedness Level 4, coordinating large incident suppression across Nevada.
The McConnell fire east of Orovada has grown to 32,169 acres (13% contained) with active uphill runs and backing under CIMT Great Basin Team 6. The Calico fire southeast of McDermitt stands at 18,319 acres (10% contained) with uphill runs, isolated torching, and smoldering. The Blue Eagle fire northwest of Austin covers 9,021 acres (0% contained) with moderate smoldering, isolated torching, and creeping.
The Hawk fire north of Reno covers 15,085 acres (98% contained). Near Wells, the Oxley fire stands at 11,384 acres (93% contained) and the Forleen fire at 667 acres (80% contained). The Kearny fire north of Ely covers 300 acres (60% contained).

Utah
The Great Basin Area is managing five active large incidents across Utah.
The Brushy Canyon fire north of Promontory has burned 10,002 acres (45% contained) with minimal smoldering. The Tom Creek fire south of Dugway covers 4,991 acres (61% contained) with torching, creeping, and backing.
The Slough Canyon fire east of Price spans 4,698 acres (36% contained) with single tree torching and smoldering. The Black Canyon fire southwest of Price stands at 3,264 acres (87% contained), and the Teddy Valley fire southwest of Beaver covers 361 acres (80% contained).

The Aspen Acres fire in Custer County southwest of Pueblo stands at 102,004 acres (82% contained) with minimal fire behavior. The Gold Mountain fire north of Ouray covers 39,744 acres (87% contained). The Willow fire near Leadville stands at 7,534 acres (80% contained), and the Elk fire northwest of Lake City covers 7,257 acres (64% contained).

The new Mogote Ridge fire east of Canjilon covers 112 acres (10% contained) with group torching. Additional incidents include the Whiskey fire northwest of Mountainair (181 acres; 0% contained) and the Sunset fire southwest of Arabela (145 acres; 62% contained).

The new McKee Draw fire northwest of Rocksprings covers 2,891 acres (50% contained) with running, flanking, and wind-driven runs. The Rio Escondido fire northeast of Evant stands at 2,713 acres (90% contained). Other active Texas fires include the new Sandy fire northwest of Raymondville (1,000 acres; 5% contained), the new West Fork fire southwest of Junction (680 acres; 40% contained), and the Whitetail fire west of Rocksprings (300 acres; 20% contained).

The Brushy Creek fire northeast of Blanco has burned 238 acres (75% contained). New incidents include the High Fence fire northwest of Stuart (250 acres; 60% contained), the South Beaver Mt fire northeast of Quinton (108 acres; 80% contained), and the Wildhorse Creek fire north of Moyers (106 acres; 45% contained).
